Advanced Ballet (DSL)

Looking to keep your ballet training going beyond dance college, alongside your professional career, or simply take your dancing to the next level?

This advanced adult ballet class is designed for dance college graduates, working professional dancers and experienced community dancers who want to maintain and develop their technique, fitness and stamina in a supportive training environment.

Classes will move at a quicker pace, with more intricate combinations, increased technical demands and opportunities to challenge your musicality, coordination, strength and stamina. Expect to work through exercises with greater speed and complexity while continuing to refine your technique and performance quality.

Whether you’re a recent graduate looking to stay in training, a professional wanting to keep your ballet conditioning up, or an experienced community dancer ready for a new challenge, you’ll be encouraged to work at your own level, push yourself and keep progressing.

As with all classes at The Dance Studio Leeds, the focus is on creating an inclusive, supportive environment where experienced dancers can train, develop and enjoy dancing together without the pressure of perfection.

Pointe shoes can be worn by dancers who already have significant pointe experience (this will be at the teacher’s discretion).

Tutor Bio Maddie's journey in ballet began at the age of three. At eight, she joined the Royal Ballet Junior Associates, and by eleven, she was training at Elmhurst Ballet School. After eight formative years there, she continued her studies at Northern Ballet, performing with the company in the corps de ballet. Her nine-year professional career included dancing with English National Ballet, Birmingham Royal Ballet, Vienna Festival Ballet, Ballet Cymru, and New English Ballet Theatre. She also freelanced in London, performing at various events and in films. Among the many ballets Maddie has danced, Swan Lake holds a special place in her heart. Later in her career, she also discovered a passion for contemporary dance, with these productions standing out as some of her personal highlights. Now having taken a step back from performing, Maddie is dedicated to teaching ballet. She works with students of all ages, focusing on strong technique, artistry, expression, and elegant port de bras. Maddie aims to share the joy and dedication that defined her own ballet journey, helping others explore their passion for dance.
