Capoeira Club Leeds is part of Capoeira Club London which was created in 2012 by Mestre Hiram Ribeiro. If you want to quickly improve your fitness, learn acrobatics, music skills and self-defence, and most of all make new friends, come and give it a try!

A bit about Capoeira!

Capoeira is an Afro-Brazilian martial art that combines elements of dance, acrobatics, and music. It was developed by enslaved Africans in Brazil who used it to disguise the fact that they were practising fight moves.

This class is in studio 1. Please make your way straight to Mill 6 on arrival.

Studio 1 is located in Mill 6, 1st Floor, next to reception.

Tutor Bio Formado Zumbi (Mamadu) was born in Guinea-Bissau, West Africa, and spent most of his childhood there until he moved to Lisbon. He first came into contact with the world of capoeira in 2008, a year after moving to London. His nickname “Zumbi” is the name of an ancient capoeira warrior, who fought against slavery. Mamadu enjoys playing the traditional instruments of capoeira, especially the atabaque drum. Mamadu has experience teaching all levels of adults, and has participated in a variety of performances and TV shows.
