Join Hannah for the first in a series of Jazz workshops here at the Studio!

What Is Jazz?

Jazz is a modern dance style with African roots, that’s highly energetic and rhythmical. It’s often used in musical theatre choreography and is known for it’s technical qualities such as: kicks, leaps and turns. A foundation in jazz will develop control, strength and flexibility; and will enhance styles such as contemporary and musical theatre. The class will start with an upbeat and energetic warm up and move into centre work designed to improve strength, balance and flexibility. Students will then learn a jazz combination to put their steps into practice, develop their pick up skills and hone their performance technique. This class will build confidence, release everyday stress and bring out the dancer in you!
