Be a part of our fun Modern Theatre Jazz which will focus on learning a series of dance routines in a variety of jazz and modern dance styles with plenty of jazz hands and shimmies. Suitable for improver level either in jazz or other dance styles. Each course will work towards a new routine which may lead to performance opportunities throughout the year.

Performance opportunities will be advertised at the start of the course (please be aware that for performance courses you will be required to attend a minimum number of sessions in order to take part in the performance and this shall be at DSL’s discretion). Previous performance experience is not required but some prior dance or movement experience is beneficial.

Previous events include charity balls and fundraisers, community events and showcases.

Performance Course

This next course will be working towards a performance at Temple Newsam House on Saturday 5th September between 11-12pm for their Dance Festival Day. We are running the course in our usual Monday slot 7:25-8:25pm from 1st June – 13th July for those taking part to learn the routine before the summer holidays, and then will factor in an additional rehearsal on Thursday 3rd September 6:20-7:20pm to run the routine and recap before the rehearsal on the Saturday. (Please note – this Thursday session is not factored into the course booking, we will send a booking link out to those involved once the course has finished.)

For this performance we will be dancing to Fabulous, Baby! from Sister Act!

Please note – please only book onto this course if you can make the majority of the June & July rehearsal, if you will be missing more than one rehearsal please speak to Zoe to see if this course will be appropriate for you to join. Please only book if you can make the performance date, any spaces remaining will be opened up a week before the course start date for those that can’t make the performance but would like to join the course.

This class is in studio 2. Please make your way straight to Mill 6 on arrival.

Studio 2 is located in Mill 6, 1st Floor, near reception.

Tutor Bio Zoë has been teaching for 10 years and loves sharing her passion for dance, especially jazz! Alongside teaching, she runs a podcast called 'Dance to this' where her and co-host/best friend Jess discover great songs to dance to, through interviews with industry professionals. Coupled with her vlogs and dance videos for Youtube, she always has a camera in hand or a costume in her bag! Zoë is a professional dancer, dancing up and down the country on a weekly basis and also loves running her business 'I'm Amazing Dance Parties'.
