These weekly Stage Combat for Stage & Screen workshops are designed for beginners through to early-intermediate performers, with no prior weapons experience required.

Each session focuses on learning safe, repeatable and camera-ready fight choreography, drawing from professional stage combat and screen-fight practice. We will explore a mix of broadsword, unarmed combat and knife work, rotating disciplines across the block to give you a broad and practical foundation.

Alongside professional development, these classes are also a fun and engaging way to keep fit.

  • Saturday 28th February, 4.30-5.30pm

Tutor Bio Kyle O’Gara is a trained fight performer, actor and co-founder of Northern Calibre. He has worked extensively across theatre, film and screen, with credits including fight direction for professional productions such as Lord of the Flies and Macbeth at the local Leeds Playhouse. He has experience teaching stage combat to performers of varying levels, with a strong emphasis on safe practice, confidence-building and integrating combat seamlessly into character and story. Northern Calibre was founded to create accessible, high-quality fight training in the North, supporting performers in developing both their technical craft and creative confidence.
