OUR INSPIRATIONAL STUDENT OF THE MONTH FOR JANUARY IS AIDY!

AIDY

Classes Attends:

When did you start dancing?

I started very recently, in June of last year. I wanted to take up a new hobby for my mental health, to relieve stress and boost my mood. Jess’ class was actually my first dance class ever, but I felt a lot more comfortable and welcome than I thought I would, so I kept going. I’ve also been using the studio to practice by myself, exploring mostly street and funk styles.

What is your favourite style of dance and why?

At the moment it’s either popping or hip hop, those are what I’m focusing on the most. I love popping because of how it feels in my body, and the illusions it lets you create with stuff like animation and waving. Hip hop is just cool and makes me feel confident, haha. I feel like the more I learn about a style, the better I’m able to express myself with it, so I’m looking to branch out and try even more this year.

Who inspires you to dance and why?

I’d say my main source of encouragement has been Jess – she’s been so patient with me and so supportive, she always brings good vibes and she’s really shown me the joy of dance. It’s like therapy to me now. I’m also inspired by the other dancers around me, like the people in my class. It’s nice to see that everyone has their own style, and there’s a feeling of unity as we’re all learning and having fun together.

Well Done Aidy! 🙂
