OUR INSPIRATIONAL STUDENT OF THE MONTH FOR MARCH IS TINUADE!

Classes Attends:
What do you love about dancing at DSL?
The community at DSL is amazing. I started classes with just one teacher and it took me a while to try others as I was worried the positive atmosphere was specific to the class. But after spending time in the communal spaces, I realised it’s an energy that goes across all classes curated by the space we were in. I also love the fact that there are so many different styles taught there regularly and brought in as workshops so you can always try something new.
How long have you danced at the studio?
Since the 7th Jun 2023!
Top tip for anyone looking to start a class at DSL?
Just pick a class in a style you’re most familiar with or interested in so excitement or familiarity helps you get in the door. Come along and you’ll see how welcoming and friendly everyone is. The instructors are amazing and make it easy for entry level to pick up and there are also great intermediate options if you already have the skills. The classes are incredibly inclusive and filled with supportive energy
Which class are you next looking forward to attending?
I want to try more commercial/heels classes with other instructors. It’s been so inspiring learning new styles of the same genre of dance, experiencing how other people move and choreograph, as well as meeting the different people in those classes. I’m also interested in street and afro beats classes. Honestly want to keep absorbing as much as I can to help influence my own choreography and act creation.
Have you found dancing at the studio impacted you in other ways?
Part of why I started was I had moved to Leeds and I permanently WFH. I needed a reason to leave my house and I love dance. Now, not only do I leave to be able to dance but also to see the amazing friends I’ve met at DSL. Dancing with DSL has left me with an incredibly diverse social circle of unbelievably supportive friends that I never would have met in my daily life. They’re my biggest cheer leaders in the dance world but also people I can count on in everyday life.
Well Done Tinuade, and congrats again! 🙂
