OUR INSPIRATIONAL STUDENT OF THE MONTH FOR SEPTEMBER IS ELISA

ELISA

Classes Attends:

AfroFusion with Jemma

When did you start dancing?

I started dancing ballet and tap at the age of 2 or 3! Through school I continued this and took up what I used to call ‘black ballet’ because we wore black leotards, but I guess you would call this jazz. I then dabbled in belly dancing, and discovered salsa in my teens, then more recently afro fusion at DSL. I also dance a bit of hip hop and bachata.

What is your favourite style of dance and why?

My favourite dance style has to be salsa, mainly because it’s the one style I feel really confident doing outside of a class environment. I also love the Latin culture and the huge amount of events you can attend worldwide.

Who inspires you to dance and why?

My inspiration to dance just comes from the love of it! I don’t particularly look up to one person, but all my teachers are fantastic. I love attending a class which one of my other teachers is also doing so I can see different flavours of the same moves.
