Every month we ask our teachers to nominate a student who attends regularly, tries really hard, has improved a lot or just brings some sunshine to the class! The successful student gets mentioned in our newsletter, goes up on the noticeboard at the studio and wins a goodie bag to celebrate how brilliant they are. And without further ado here’s June’s winner – Rachel Sharp!

Rachel Sharp

Class Attends: DSL Modern Jazz Performance Group

When did you start dancing?

I was so delighted when I found out that I won inspirational student of the month. I just love to dance and love to perform and have done since I started dancing when I was 4 years old. I have been in many performances over my life time, showcases, primary and high school plays, fashion shows, pantomimes and musicals I just loved it!

What is your favourite style of dance and why?

Music has always been around in my family growing up and still continues to be a big part of my growing family now. I am interested in many genres but my favourite would have to be jazz theatre.

Who inspires you to dance and why?

My inspiration would most definitely be musicals! Ann Reinking and Alyson Reed are my favourite people in that industry and they just ooze jazz theatre. It’s hard to pick a favourite musical but top would be A Chorus Line/Chicago. Being part of a jazz group has rekindled my love of jazz and am so lucky I get this opportunity to perform again. Jazz Hands!!
