There are so many reasons why everyone should dance, as well as plenty of benefits for both your mental and physical health! Here in this post I am going to share with you some of those benefits, you won’t be able to keep yourself away!
Fitness – Dancing is a great way to get fit, whether you are looking to get stronger, fitter or to lose weight, there are many different styles on offer that can help you do this. Here at The Dance Studio Leeds we have lots of cardiovascular classes to help you build endurance and burn calories including Street Dance, Tap, Latin Dance Fit and more. We also have dance based classes aimed at toning and building strength, such as Ballet Fitness, and all of our Ballet classes in general are great for this! We also have lots of different passes and packages available, so cancel the Gym membership and start dancing!
Flexibility – As well as helping you get stronger and fitter, dance can also be a great way to work on your flexibility too, especially if you have specific goals set for this year, whether it’s to be able to touch your toes, or to do the splits! A good stretch after a dance class is a great way to reach those goals.
Confidence – Dancing is a great way to increase your confidence, especially if you are attending classes regularly and seeing yourself improve each week. For some people the idea of dancing in a room full of people can be a daunting prospect, but we pride ourselves on being a friendly welcoming bunch and everyone is in the same boat when they first start 🙂 And building this confidence can help in many situations including work and day to day social settings.
Reduces Stress – It has been scientifically proven that dancing is a great form of stress relief. What better way to destress after a long day at work than dancing to some great tunes with even greater people!
Meet New People – Starting a new hobby or activity is a great way to meet new people, especially dance! With so many styles to choose from you are guaranteed to meet so many different people through dancing. Over the years we have seen many friendships form through our students here at the studio, and I myself can say most of my closest friends today I met through dance!
Creative – Attending different classes can be a great way to gain inspiration, learning from different teachers, which help you be more creative in many aspects of life, whether it’s work or a hobby.
Relationships – Dancing is a great activity to enjoy with other people, whether it’s a friend, partner, parent or child, we have plenty of classes you can enjoy together, including Cuban Salsa, Lindy Hop and our new parent & child class DSL Get Down With The Kids!
Increase Brain Power – Researchers have discovered that workouts such as dance classes help produce specific chemicals that the brain requires to perform certain functions, which include multitasking, memory and problem solving!
Happy – The most important reason! It’s hard to believe that anyone could not feel happier after a good dance class, and with so many different styles to choose from, there’s bound to be a style that everyone will enjoy!
