Advanced Contemporary with Jake Daniels

Friday 27th September 2019

7:30pm – 9pm

My training and study’s in Contemporary dance began with Leeds Beckett University. I became fortunate enough to work with and undergo the mentorship of dance artists and choreographers Rachel Krische and Beth Cassani. More recently working with Hull based artists Tamar and Jo on the Unseen Beings project and choreographic mentorships on my own works with Theo Clinkard and Mattias Sperling through expanding my studies with a master’s degree in Choreography. My work leans on creative task-based improvisation and imagery to induce the emergence of movement from the body. My short background in breaking lends itself to my interest in floor work, fluid continuous movement and reworking movement in abstract ways.

This class is an extension of my own practice working with task-based improvisation and imagery, we will explore our 360-degree bodies, allowing the emergence of new and interesting movement. This class will be fun and physical through visceral moving, moving in and out of the floor with both partner and contact work – The aim of this class open the body to working with movement that is ready made within the dancer. the use of imagery help’s us to alter and create limitlessly.
