Classes Attends:

When did you start dancing?

I started dancing when I was about 7, and most of my dancing growing up was musical theatre. I took performing arts classes until I left school, though I was never the most confident dancer! After a few years of not dancing, I joined the jazz performance group in January 2022. I’d moved to Leeds on my own for work and wanted to find a hobby and a way to meet people. DSL is the most welcoming place, so it wasn’t long before I started going to musicals classes too! Starting dance again was the best decision. Being in Zoe and Jess’ classes brightens up my week, everyone is so friendly, happy and supportive. My confidence has grown hugely since I started dancing again, and I love it now more than I ever have!

What is your favourite style of dance and why?

I love jazz, it’s so fun and the jazz performance group has brought some great opportunities to perform. I’m also a huge musical theatre fan, so do love dancing to some of my favourite songs in musicals classes. It was amazing to have the opportunity to perform both at the DSL show last year!

Who inspires you to dance and why?

I’m inspired by the wonderful people I dance with every week. It’s amazing to be surrounded by such lovely people at the studio, and to share a love of dancing with them! The classes I go to are full of joy and it’s inspiring to be with people who encourage you to be yourself and have fun.

Well Done Emily! 🙂
